Wandering Soul
Psalm 107 is a long psalm about people who wandered. Some were lost in the desert. Some were locked in dungeons. Some were sailors caught in storms so bad the men 'staggered like drunkards and were at their wits' end.' Every group is different. Every group is in real trouble.
And then every group does the same thing: they cry out to God. And every time, He answers. He leads the wanderers home. He breaks the prison gates. He stills the sea.
If you feel like a wandering soul, unsure of your direction, far from where you thought you'd be, a little lost, you are in good company. The Bible is full of wanderers. The striking thing is not that they were lost. It is that they were found.
Cry out. He hears wandering souls. He has a gift for finding the lost and bringing them somewhere better than they knew to ask for.
“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea were hushed.”
