Peace

Peace is one of the most searched-for things in the world. People look for it in quiet holidays, in sorted schedules, in having enough money or enough friends. And those things are good, but none of them are quite the peace the Psalms are talking about.

The Hebrew word for peace, shalom, means wholeness. It is not simply the absence of noise or trouble. It is a deep-down okayness that doesn't depend on everything going right. It is a calm that can exist even in a storm.

Jesus stood up in a boat on a raging sea and said, 'Peace, be still.' The storm obeyed. The same God who spoke to that storm speaks to yours. When anxiety fills a room, His peace is bigger. When uncertainty keeps you awake, He is already there in the dark, steady and close.

You can ask for this peace today. It is not earned. It is given. 'The LORD blesses His people with peace.'

The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace.
