Psalms for Kids is committed to making our website welcoming and usable for every child and every adult who supports them, including people who use assistive technology. We design and build with accessibility in mind, and we keep improving as we learn.
Standards we target
We aim to substantially conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is the standard most widely referenced by laws and regulations around the world, including the U.S. ADA, Section 508, and the EU Web Accessibility Directive.
What we do
- Keyboard-navigable interactions with a clearly visible focus indicator on every link, button, and form control.
- Semantic headings, landmarks, and alt text so screen readers can convey structure and meaning.
- Colour contrast tuned to meet WCAG AA for body text, and a calm, generous type scale for young readers.
- Respect for the operating-system prefers-reduced-motion setting — animation is reduced or disabled for visitors who need it.
- Touch targets sized for small hands (at least 44×44 CSS pixels for interactive controls).
- Scripture text rendered verbatim, never as images, so it remains selectable, searchable, and readable by assistive tools.
Where we know we’re still improving
Accessibility is an ongoing practice rather than a fixed destination. Some third-party embeds (for example, video players) follow their providers’ own accessibility implementations, which we do not control. We also continue to review older illustrations and decorative elements to ensure every piece of content has appropriate text alternatives.
Report a barrier or get help
If you encounter anything on this Site that is difficult to use or read — or if you would like content provided in a different format — please reach us through the contact page. We treat accessibility reports as a priority and will respond as quickly as we can.
Compatibility
The Site is built to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari) and with common assistive technologies including VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS. Older browsers may not support every feature.
