Psalm 87
Zion, City of God
This short psalm celebrates Jerusalem as the city God loves most. It says that one day people from many nations will be counted as citizens of Zion — God's special city. It's a picture of how God welcomes people from everywhere into His family.
- 1His foundation is on the holy mountain; the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.
- 2Glorious things are said of you, O city of God. Selah
- 3"I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge Me— Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush— and will say, 'This one was born in Zion.'"
- 4Indeed, it will be said of each one born in Zion, "This man was born there." The Most High Himself will establish Zion.
- 5The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: "This one was born in Zion." Selah
- 6As they make music they will sing, "All my fountains are in you."
