Editorial Policy

The explanations, lessons, prayers, discussion questions and activities are written by the Psalms for Kids editorial team, bylined as PFK Reporter. Bible stories told aloud on the site carry the name of the family who told them, on the storytellers page.

Every verse on this site is the complete published text of a real translation, reproduced word for word. We do not paraphrase scripture, we do not trim a verse to make a point land better, and we do not write our own version of a psalm and present it as the psalm.

The English pages use the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), which may be freely reproduced. Where a page shows anything other than a translation — a retelling in our own words, for instance — it says so on the page, in that place, not in a footnote.

The psalm and the explanation of it are two different things, and the design keeps them apart: the text of the psalm always appears in full, and our commentary sits beside it rather than in place of it. A child should always be able to see what the Bible says and what a person said about it, and tell which is which.

• We write for roughly ages four to twelve, and for the adult reading alongside.
• We aim for one clear idea per psalm rather than a complete survey. Children remember one thought; they do not remember an outline.
• We do not use fear as a teaching tool, and we do not shame. The psalms contain grief, anger and fear, and we do not hide that — but the framing is always that these are feelings you may bring to God, not feelings you are in trouble for having.
• Explanations are written to be warm and not tied to one denomination.

Pages that have been checked for biblical accuracy by a named reviewer carry that reviewer's name, their credentials and the date of the review, on the page itself. Pages that have not been reviewed carry no such line — we would rather show nothing than imply a check that did not happen. As reviewers are added, the line appears on the pages they have actually read.

We are open about where automated tools are involved in building and maintaining this site; the AI disclosure sets that out. Two limits are absolute: scripture is never generated, only reproduced from a published translation; and Bible Buddy, the helper a child can talk to, stays on the Bible and the Psalms and directs anything serious to a trusted grown-up.

If something here is wrong, we want to know, and we correct it openly rather than quietly. Tell us through the contact page. Corrections to a fact or a translation are made as soon as we have checked them; where a correction changes the meaning of a page, we say on the page that it changed.

• Alter, trim or paraphrase a verse and present it as scripture.
• Put a reviewer's name, credential or review date on a page that was not reviewed.
• Run advertising, or track children across the web.
• Let a child reach another person — a stranger or another child — through anything on this site.
