Psalm 62

Rest in God Alone

David says his soul rests quietly in God alone, like a baby resting in its mother's arms. He's not rushing around trying to fix everything himself. He knows that true safety and honor come only from God, not from people or money.

  1. 1Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.
  2. 2Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
  3. 3How long will you assault a man? How long will all of you throw him down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
  4. 4Surely they intend to topple him from his lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. Selah
  5. 5Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him.
  6. 6Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
  7. 7My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
  8. 8Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Selah
  9. 9Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; weighed on a scale, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
  10. 10Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches grow, do not set your heart on them.
  11. 11One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: "Power belongs to You, God,
  12. 12and with You, Lord, is unfailing love"; and, "You reward everyone according to what they have done."
