Psalm 54

God Is My Helper

David was being betrayed by people he knew, so he cried out to God. He asks God to save him by His name — the most powerful name in the universe! David was sure that God would help him and promised to thank God with a joyful heart.

  1. 1Save me, O God, by Your name; vindicate me by Your might.
  2. 2Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
  3. 3Strangers are attacking me; ruthless men seek my life— men who have no regard for God.
  4. 4Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my life.
  5. 5Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in Your faithfulness destroy them.
  6. 6I will sacrifice a freewill offering to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
  7. 7For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
