Illustration of a humble, kind-faced family man standing with one hand over his heart and the other extended in compassion, his wife and two children beside him, illustrating Psalm 15's answer to who may dwell in God's sanctuary: one who walks with integrity and deals kindly with others.

Psalm 15

Who May Dwell With God?

This psalm asks a great question: who gets to be close to God? The answer is someone who is honest, kind, keeps their promises, and treats others fairly. God wants people with good hearts to live with Him.

  1. 1LORD, who may dwell in Your sanctuary? Who may live on Your holy mountain?
  2. 2He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, who speaks truth from his heart,
  3. 3who does not slander with his tongue, who does no evil to his neighbor, and who does not take up a reproach against his friend;
  4. 4who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps his oath even when it hurts;
  5. 5who lends his money without interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

What it means

Who gets to be close to God? The person who lives honestly, speaks the truth, keeps their word even when it's hard, and treats others kindly. These everyday choices matter more than we realize.

A little prayer

Lord, I want to live close to You. Help me to be honest, to keep my promises, and to treat others with kindness — even when it's hard. Make my walk blameless. Amen.
