Psalm 123
Eyes on the LORD
Like a servant watching their master's hand for any signal, or a maid watching her mistress, the writer keeps their eyes fixed on God waiting for His mercy. They have been mocked and treated with contempt, but they keep looking to God.
- 1I lift my eyes to You, to You who are enthroned in heaven.
- 2As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God until He shows us mercy.
- 3Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy, for we have endured much contempt.
- 4We have endured much ridicule from the arrogant, much contempt from the proud.
