Taking Every Thought Captive | Raising Christian Kids

Experts say that we have between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts per day and about 3000 thoughts per hour!

The word captive means to take as a prisoner or to confine. Therefore, we can take our sinful thoughts and imprison them as we would in a war when we capture an enemy. Don’t forget, we are engaged in spiritual warfare, and so are our children.

Epigenetics is the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work. Our thoughts are hard to control, but our behavior can affect our genes. Our behaviors come from our thoughts- what we choose to do or not to do. Just because a gene has is passed down does not mean it has to be activated. Some genes, such as hair color or eye color, are genes that we don’t choose to activate or not activate. Some other genes can be activated or deactivated by your decisions, by your environment, and by your experiences.
