3. Coloring Pages

Every kid loves to color! It’s a great way to keep children’s hands and minds busy while they sit and listen to the teachings of the prophet and other apostles. And to keep them in the spirit of the conference, you can get them some LDS Coloring Pages or a General Conference Coloring Poster that will keep them busy for a long time!

4. Treat Games (Or Snack Games)

If there is one thing in this world that makes kids happy or motivated, it’s snacks! There are so many different snack or treat games for kids to play, and some can be altered to fit the theme of General Conference! Here is a list of treat/snack games perfect for conference weekend:

  • Conference Cash – Set up a shop with treats, give the kids each a few “dollars,” and at the end of every session they were reverent during, they can go “buy” a treat from the shop.
  • Trail Mix Game – Every time you hear the word ____ (faith, family, prayer), add ____ (three peanuts, two m&m’s, four cashews, etc.) to your trail mix.
  • Treat Buckets – Fill each bucket with a treat and label it with a word (faith, family, prayer, etc.), and every time they hear that word, they can get a treat from the corresponding bucket.
  • M&M Game – Each color gives different instructions for things to focus on during the conference.

5. Hands-On Toys

Give your kids lots of fidgety, hands-on types of toys. Believe it or not, it’s easier for kids to stay still and stay focused if they have something to keep their hands busy. These toys work anywhere; doctor’s offices, church, car rides, etc.

Here are some perfect hands-on activities for kids to do during General Conference:

  • Legos
  • Play-doh
  • Moon sand
  • Fidget toys
  • Coloring stuff
  • Silly putty
  • Pop it’s
  • Spinning rings
  • Drawing tablet
  • Etch-a-sketch
  • Deck of cards to play games or build houses

6. LDS Children’s Books

If your kids struggle to pay attention during conference, try giving them a different but beneficial activity, like reading. There are so many great LDS kid’s books that will teach your kids some amazing life lessons and scripture stories.

7. Gospel for Kids App

Let’s be honest. Sometimes, for your sanity, kids have some screen time. And that’s okay! But if you want to include more positive screen time, try the Gospel for Kids app!

This way, they are still learning about the gospel during the conference, and you can listen to the speakers and not have to turn your tv up over the sound of your kid’s complaining that they’re bored.

8. Building Forts

There’s never a bad time to build a fort! Have the kids build a special fort just for General Conference to hang out in and listen to the speakers. Give them plenty of blankets, pillows, chairs, etc. You can even challenge them to switch it up every session and see how many different ways they can build a fort.

If you want to make things extra fun, get the kids a fort-building kit! These make fort building easier and more enjoyable for the kids.

9. Arts & Crafts

Sitting in front of the TV all day is the perfect time to get out all the craft stuff and let the kids go to town. It keeps their hands and minds busy while subconsciously taking in what the church leaders say. You can even challenge them to make some conference-themed crafts.

10. Puzzles

Puzzles take time and patience. What better time for that than while watching conference? To spice it up a bit, you can get a larger puzzle and challenge your kids to finish it before the last session, or you can get each of your kids a puzzle and let them race to see who finishes first.

Final Thoughts: LDS General Conference Activities for Kids

General Conference is a great opportunity to teach kids about reverence, revelation, the atonement, LDS doctrine, and lots of other Mormon beliefs. It’s a time to feel connected to our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Church leaders’ revelations contain such powerful messages that members of the church of any age can benefit from hearing.

Hopefully, this list has given you some ideas of ways to keep your kids busy during conference. And don’t forget, many of these are also wonderful ways to keep kids busy during church!
