Preschool Children’s Message: We’re All Special to God

Hold up the mirror so only you can look into it.

Say: I’m looking at a picture of someone God says is very special. Would you like to see the picture? Okay, but I’ll show you only if you promise not to tell who’s in the picture. Hold the mirror up to each child so only one child can see into it at one time.

Ask:

  • Did we all see the same person?
  • Who did you see?

Say: God thinks all people are special. God thinks you’re special!

Ask:

  • Which child here do you think is God’s favorite child?
  • God doesn’t have a favorite, does he?

Say: The person you saw in the picture doesn’t look exactly like other people. Some of you have dark hair; others have light hair. Some have dark skin; others have light skin. And some are tall; others are short. But no matter how you look, God thinks you’re special.

Say: This week, we celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. He was a great man who helped people realize how wrong it is to dislike someone because of the way that person looks.

In the Bible, God said that what makes us special is what’s inside, not how we look on the outside. Listen to this!

Read 1 Samuel 16:7.

Say: Let’s thank God for making all people special and unique. Close in prayer.
