VERSE:
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, (PSALM 39:3 KJV)
EXPLANATION:
I greet you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today we will meditate on the verse from Psalm 39:3. “My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,”
The heroes in the Bible lived a pious life of meditation. They meditated on the greatness and excellencies of God. They meditated on God’s powers and miracles. They meditated on the law and the word of God.
It was Isaac’s custom to meditate in the evening (Genesis 24:63). David made it his duty to get up and meditate before the appointed times (Psalm 119:148). Jesus went to the Mount of Olives early in the morning and meditated and prayed.
Do you know what advice the Lord gave to Joshua? Meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in this book of the law; Then you will make your way clear, and you will walk wisely (Joshua 1:8). Have you noticed the blessings of meditation?
There is a biography of Kenneth Hagin, a saint. The secret of his books being a blessing to so many is his meditating on the Scriptures. He used to read the scriptures, lean down for a while and meditate on those verses and praise them. Then the Lord reveals to him the spiritual secrets of that verse, the meanings and explanations of the verse.
When the apostle Paul, the spiritual father, wrote to Timothy, “Consider these things, and abide in them, that you may be clear to all.” states that (1 Timothy 4:15).
Beloved, meditate on the scriptures. “Blessed is the man who delights in the scriptures of the Lord, and meditates in his scriptures day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which brings forth its fruit in its season, and which does not wither; whatever he does will prosper.” (Psalm 1:2,3). As you meditate on the scriptures, the Lord will bring you to a fruitful exaltation so that your life will be blessed.
This is not the right time to meditate. At any time we may be meditating on the greatness and glory of the Lord. Some wake up early in the morning and meditate on the Lord. Some people sing and praise the Lord till they fall asleep. Thus David says, “When I think of thee upon my bed, I meditate upon thee in kingdoms.” (Psalm 63:6). “Pleasant shall be my meditation on him; I shall delight myself in the Lord.” (Psalm 104:34). “My eyes shall awake before the appointed times to meditate on Your word” (Psalm 119:148).
As important as the experience of reading the scriptures is in the eyes of God, sitting in His presence and meditating on Him is even more important.
Ordinarily nominal Christians do not try or think of giving time to all this. But this verse explains that any man or men who fear God, seek His presence and commit themselves to meditate on Him in this way, the power of God, His fire, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit will overflow in the lives of such people. This is what the scriptures say, “seek the things that are above” and “be strong in the spirit”.
Beloved, no matter how many people oppose you, nothing can be done to you. Do you want to get the fiery life that you get from this fiery anointing? Then, like those teenage girls today, “Lord, pray that you will turn even my life, which is empty and worthless, upside down and full of power.”
PRAYER:
Lord of love! Your scripture is my light. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Give me the desire to read your scriptures and meditate on every word in them. May I meditate on each of your words and help me to live holy and walk knowing your will. Your word gives light to my path. Help me to do Your will in my life. Bless this day. How much more life you keep for me. This experience will be given to me today. Give me the grace to live in a state of true ministry, filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit and bringing many to You. I pray in Jesus name Father, Amen!
