VERSE:
…Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail… (1 SAMUEL 26:25 KJV)
EXPLANATION:
I greet you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “…Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail…” (1 Samuel 26:25) I want to share with you today’s promise.
God blesses you with these words today, saying, “Blessed are you, my child.” You will do great things and become strong. Saul says this to David. Saul hated David very much. He followed him to kill him. When he saw David face to face, instead of killing him, he blessed him. This is the blessing of God’s children.
Saul, despite being David’s enemy, calls him ‘my son’ and blesses him. He did not bless this once only. In another place, “…I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.” (1 Samuel 24:20) He blesses.
It is surprising that Saul, who was jealous of David and his worthiness to be king, felt compelled to bless him. It reminds us that God can work with anyone and He can make your enemies bless you. It is a testimony of God’s power and authority to bless you even your enemies. “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.” (Isaiah 54:15) The Lord promises.
David was after God’s heart. God testified about David. I found David, the son of Jesse, after my heart; He testified about him that he will do whatever I want. This is how David’s ways pleased God. That is why God graced his enemies to make peace with him.
When our enemies hate us, envy us, and speak evil words against us, do we not hate them? But if, instead of hating them, we bless them and pray for them, the Lord will bless us more than our enemies. “…there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.” (2 Samuel 3:1).
Yes, David is coming. God will give you this blessing too. You will be strengthened and overcome. Be humble in His mighty hand, that God may lift you up in due time (1 Peter 5:6). You will do great things. You will win.
When we love God with all our heart, the Lord will be gracious to bless us even our enemies. “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” (Proverbs 16:7) says the scriptures. If a man’s ways are pleasing to God, his enemies will be at peace with him.
In the scriptures, “I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.” (Exodus 23:27) He promises. It is a reminder that God is always with you even when you face opposition. David is the perfect example of doing great things despite opposition. He killed his enemy Goliath with the power given by God and brought victory to the nation of Israel. As King Saul blessed him, David continued to do great things.
Beloved, I pray that you too will be blessed, do great things and have sure success. Remember that God’s hand is with you, that you need not fear enemies, that God will make those who hate you flee from you or come to you and bless you.
PRAYER:
Dear Supreme Father! I praise You for Your wonderful promise. I humbly ask for your hand to guide me and strengthen me to accomplish mighty things in your name. Your hand is not shortened. Lord, I pray that all that I do will be successful and that the labors of my hands will be blessed. I pray that my efforts will not go in vain and that my family will be blessed as I bear fruit. Lord, I believe that your power will make all things work. I pray that I will do great things, inherit success and enjoy the victory you have in store for me. Every day should be stronger. Strengthen my inner man day by day with the Holy Spirit. Please give me the grace to recover all that I have lost. Make me a doer of great things for you. I pray in Jesus name Good Father, Amen.
