We feel that the best way to learn something is to teach it. So after Cashy recently learned how to drop in on her own, Nick decided to have her teach him. His thought process is that she, upon her next skate sesh, will remember the intricacies of how to drop in. Thus giving her the confidence that she can do it again and again.
As a person who went to college to become a teacher, teaching to others is a solid way to show the comprehension of the skill. It allows one to explain what they have learned but explain it in their own words.
As you see in this video, Cashy forgets a few key points to a successful drop in. However by having her teach (with a little bit of my help), it will engrain the small details for her to have her own voice remind her the steps to be successful dropping in on her own.
To be honest, we don’t know if this is the best way or the “right” way but it’s what seems to be working and as they say (who’s they?) “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!”
