Volunteers…the Unsung Heroes Who Transform Kids’ Lives ~ RELEVANT CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

[ad_1]

God uses people to reach and disciple other people.

I can’t type that without thinking about the amazing heroes whom God uses to transform kids’ lives each week in children and family ministry.

I believe that God sends people to influence the next generation. Often He uses teachers, small group leaders, youth pastors, and children’s ministry volunteers.

These people don’t take the place of parents, but they do come alongside parents and reinforce what the parents are telling their children about following Jesus.

Many volunteers serve behind the scenes.  They do not seek the applause of man, but simply want to make a difference in the life of the next generation.

They pray for kids.  They teach kids.  They care about kids.  They listen as kids talk about how their week went.  They mentor kids.

The sad part…many never hear the words “thank you for serving and making a difference.”  Not that they have to be told this. They are serving out of a love for Jesus and His children. Not getting a “thank you” is not going to stop them from serving.

But our words of encouragement are a big deal.  It helps them know they are making a difference and helps them bounce back when they get weary in well doing.

You see…it only takes one person to make the difference in a child’s life.  If a child knows that there is a person who cares about them and teaches them about Jesus, there is a high percentage chance that they won’t walk away when they are old enough to decide for themselves.

Volunteers are the unsung heroes who transform kids’ lives.

  • Verbally thank them for their heart for the next generation.  Do this every single week.
  • Send them a text message that has a word of encouragement.
  • Write them a “thank you” note.
  • Have the kids make up a thank card for a volunteer.

Some of you who are reading this have not heard the words “thank you” in a long time. I want you to know that you are a hero.  You are a difference maker.  You are a disciple-maker.  You matter.  What you do matters…a lot.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.  Stay focused on the mission God has called you to.

God keeps great records and great will be your reward in heaven one day.
