In this Christmas craft, kids will discover how the wise men gave baby Jesus gifts as they make Christmas cones as gifts for their families.
You’ll need:
- Bible
- 8-inch squares of construction paper
- 5×10-inch strips of tissue paper
- 10-inch pieces of ribbon
- stickers
- glue
- scissors
- individually wrapped candies
Allergy Alert:
Be aware that some children have food allergies that can be dangerous. Know your children and consult with parents about allergies their children may have. Also be sure to read food labels carefully as hidden ingredients can cause allergy-related problems.
Christmas Cones
Directions
Have each child roll the square of construction paper into a cone shape, then glue the overlapping edges of construction paper together. Trim away the excess paper to make the top of the Christmas cone level. Glue the tissue paper inside the cone 1 inch from the top, with the remaining tissue sticking above the edge. Decorate the cone with stickers. Fill the Christmas cone with candies and tie the tissue with a ribbon.
For Extra Impact
Read aloud Matthew 2:10-11, and ask kids how Mary might’ve felt when the wise men gave baby Jesus gifts.
Have kids share how it feels to give gifts and how it feels to receive gifts.
Ask kids:
Let kids each choose a special person to give their Christmas cone to and tell the group who they chose and why.
