VERSE:
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (1 Corinthians 1:26&27)
EXPLANATION:
I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today let us meditate on the verses 1 Corinthians 1:26&27. “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;” (1 Corinthians 1:26&27)
Consider how lovingly the Lord has known you, how much grace he has lavished upon you, and how highly he has called you. All your glory is that the Lord is with you. Because Jesus Christ is with you, you can do great things.
When the Lord is with you – who is wiser than you? Who is stronger than you? Who is powerful than you? The scriptures say, “That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:31).
When the Lord came to know Moses, Moses explained his weakness to the Lord and said, “I am not a man of promise. I am slow-witted and slow-tongued,” he said. But the Lord was able to lead the entire people of Israel with Moses in the wilderness for forty years.
When the Lord called Jeremiah the prophet, do you know what Jeremiah humbled himself and said? ‘Ah, Lord God, behold, I do not know how to speak. I am a little boy’ he said. However, the Lord put His words in Jeremiah’s mouth, made him a prophet, and used them powerfully.
When the Lord called the uneducated Peter who was fishing, he said, ‘Lord, I am a sinful man. He said it will leave me. But the Lord made Peter a disciple and gave him spiritual gifts and made him a great apostle.
John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, was a dwarf who was often mocked by others. But the Lord used him as a flame of fire and power.
D.L.Moody, a devotee who shook the world, was illiterate. Many made fun of the English he spoke. However, millions were blessed by his ministry. He has an indelible place in Christian history even today.
Beloved, as the great saints called by God had many infirmities in the flesh, so may you also have. There may be many hindrances to progress in the spiritual life. Don’t get discouraged. God has chosen you to put the wise to shame. Rise and shine with vigor and strength. The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will be high and not low.
PRAYER:
God of love! Thank You for speaking to me through Your Word. Thank you for reminding me of your invitation. Lord, you will confirm your calling by speaking to me again and again. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Give me the strength to fulfill your calling. May your will be done in my life. Lord, today I heed your call and entrust my life completely into your loving hands. You are the God who calls and protects your children for your purposes. I entrust the stressful situation I’m going through into your loving arms. Remove unnecessary fear and anxiety from my mind and fill me with Your perfect love and peace. May every part of my life come to life by your mighty name. I pray in Jesus name Good Father, Amen.
